ZENA Balangan

ZENA Balangan is the Italian restaurant attached to Zena Surf Suite, a short ride from Balangan Beach. Zena is the Genoese name for Genoa, and the menu shows it, with Ligurian dishes next to the usual pizza and pasta. It runs from breakfast to dinner in a laid-back, surfer-friendly setting.

Look for the pansotti with walnut sauce, pesto gnocchi and spinach cannelloni, plus focaccia to start. The pizzas include gluten-free bases with vegan cheese on request, and a margherita or a caprese salad keeps things simple. Torta della nonna is the dessert to save room for, and the fresh juices and cocktails make it an easy stop after a surf.

It suits a casual post-surf lunch, a sunset dinner or an unhurried breakfast, and it caters well for gluten-free and vegan diners. It is open daily from 8am to 10.30pm. Hotel guests are next door, but the restaurant is open to everyone.
