Italian Eat Where

Bangkok

Bangkok's Italian scene has come of age. The city now has its first Michelin-starred Italian restaurant, a handful of Michelin-listed trattorias run by Italian chefs, and a pizza culture that has spread from one pioneering Sukhumvit pizzeria to dozens of wood-fired ovens across town. Whether you want a white truffle tasting menu or a quick plate of fresh pasta at a counter, you will find it here.

Silom and the riverside are home to some of the most polished options, including hotel dining rooms with terraces over the Chao Phraya and a beloved fresh pasta bar on Convent Road. Around Wireless Road and Ploenchit, family-run Tuscan kitchens serve salumi from their own farms back home. Sukhumvit, particularly around Soi 33 and Thonglor, is the place for lively Neapolitan pizzerias and late dinners.

Expect around 600 to 1,200 baht a head at a good pizzeria or pasta bar, and several thousand baht for a tasting menu with wine. Bangkok traffic is famously slow, so pick somewhere near your hotel or close to a BTS or MRT station, and book ahead for weekend evenings.
