Toscana opened on Jalan Kemang Raya in July 1996 and is one of the oldest Italian restaurants still running in Jakarta. A six-month renovation in 2023 gave it a lighter blue-and-slate interior, a central bar and a pizza bar facing the wood-fired oven, plus a glasshouse porch for semi-outdoor tables. Founding chef Mario de Carlini consulted on the refreshed menu.
Pizza is the core: thin, Milanese-style bases from cooks who have worked the oven for more than 20 years, with the Capricciosa (mushroom, Toulouse sausage, olives) a regular order. Beyond that, try the Tonno Bellavista tuna-belly starter, linguine Livornese with tuna confit and scallop, polpo e caponata, and the 30-day dry-aged striploin, finishing with tiramisu.
It works well for a relaxed date or a family dinner with older relatives who remember the original. Weekday service starts at 4pm, with lunch at weekends only. There is a private room, a smoking area and valet parking.
