CÁRNE opened in March 2025 in a restored Dutch-era house on Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto, with a balcony that looks towards the Thamrin towers. Head chef Mario and the main investor are childhood friends with Romanian roots, and the menu mixes Italian cooking with some Romanian and Spanish influences. Its private dining rooms are named and styled after Venice, Florence and Rome. Exquisite Taste magazine named it Best Italian Restaurant in its 2025 awards.
Beef is the focus. Steaks are dry-aged in-house and grilled over wood charcoal, and the bistecca alla Fiorentina, a charcoal-grilled T-bone, is the dish to share. Reviewers also mention the pasta, the Caesar salad, the mashed potato and the gelato. The wine list is long.
This is a place for celebrations, corporate dinners and private events. After dinner, the garden lounge has drinks deals and live music. It closes on Mondays and stays open past midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. You can book through the website or on WhatsApp.
