ITALY Pizza & Cucina sits right by the boat harbour on Gili Air, which makes it many visitors' first meal on the island. It is Italian-owned and leans towards Roman cooking, in a cosy room of stone walls, patterned tiles and woven lampshades.
The kitchen makes its own pasta, and the carbonara and amatriciana get the most praise, alongside wood-fired pizzas such as the margherita and caprese, burrata with sun-dried tomatoes and Bari-style focaccia. Mornings bring cappuccino, croissants and pastries, and desserts include panna cotta and chocolate mousse.
It is open all day, from 7.30am to 10.30pm, with a full bar and vegetarian and vegan options. Prices are a little higher than the island average but still good value.
