About

Tipo began in 2018 on North Bridge Road and moved to the larger Aliwal Arts Centre space in Kampong Glam in 2022. The idea borrows from the way Singaporeans eat nasi padang or yong tau foo: you pick a pasta shape from the day's in-house extrusions, add a sauce, then choose toppings. The pastel pink and blue room is bright and casual.

The base 150g bowl costs S$9.90, with sauces ranging from aglio olio and pomodoro to harissa cream, kombu cream and beef ragu. If you would rather not build your own, the Classy Carbonara with smoked duck and a sous vide egg, the Royal Ragu of slow-braised shredded beef, and the Zesty Za'atar with tiger prawns and mussels are the house favourites. Finish with the OG Tiramisu.

It suits students, families and anyone after a quick, cheap pasta lunch. Tipo is Muslim-owned and labels its menu halal-friendly, though it does not claim MUIS certification. The group also runs Tipo Pasta Bar at Stamford Arts Centre on Waterloo Street, and Tipo Strada at Keong Saik Road, Wheelock Place and Great World.
