Etna is named after Sicily's volcano and has two Singapore restaurants. This one sits on Upper East Coast Road in Siglap. The cooking is modern Italian with Sicilian touches, served in a calm room with white tablecloths that works for long lunches and occasion dinners. Regulars praise the attentive service.
Start with parmigiana di melanzane or the clams and mussels in white wine. Handmade pastas include basil trenette with stracciatella, ravioli in Bronte pistachio sauce and tagliatelle with braised lamb. The Umbricella pizza with black truffle and stracciatella, the burrata pizza and the Fiorentina T-bone are popular orders. Finish with a Sicilian cannolo or the pistachio tiramisu.
It is good for family celebrations and relaxed weekday lunches, and set lunches are available. On Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays, dinner runs in two seatings, with first-seating tables needed back by 8pm, so book ahead. The sister restaurant is at 49/50 Duxton Road in Tanjong Pagar.
