Pasta Fresca was opened in 1988 by Carecci Salvatore, a former diving specialist and keen home cook, and has grown into a small Singapore chain. The Siglap branch on Upper East Coast Road is its East Coast outpost, a relaxed corner restaurant with a wine fridge, wooden tables and a covered terrace.
The draw is fresh pasta made in-house without preservatives. You can build your own plate from 16 shapes and 21 sauces, or go for the lobster bisque pasta (Bisque di Aragosta), Mare e Monti with crabmeat and mushrooms, or a creamy pork sausage and mushroom sauce. Thin-crust pizzas such as the Parma ham, aubergine parmigiana and panna cotta round things out.
Good for families and casual weeknight dinners in the east. It stays open until 11pm and runs all day from Friday to Sunday, with an Italian lunch set on weekdays. Other branches are at Boat Quay and Bukit Timah.
