Al Borgo, meaning small town, has been at the foot of the Alocassia Apartments on Bukit Timah Road since 2010. The 60-seat room has dark wood floors and brick tiling, and the menu takes its cue from Naples while borrowing from the rest of Italy. Chef Tiziano leads the kitchen, and manager and sommelier Daniel runs the floor and the wine list.
The house showpiece is carbonara tossed in a hollowed-out wheel of Italian cheese and finished with black truffle. Pizzas such as the Bufala and Quattro Formaggi are reliable, as are the cappellini with prawns and 'nduja and the seafood spaghetti baked in parchment. For something bigger, the charcoal grill turns out Fiorentina steak, and sea bass is baked in a salt crust.
