Rosso Vino occupies a ground-floor unit beside the Robertson Quay Hotel, with tables outside along the river and a warmly lit dining room inside. It is independently run, co-owned by Salvatore Adaldo, a wine specialist from Singapore's luxury hotel bars, and Carlo Mazzaglia. The cooking follows Southern Italian traditions, and dogs are welcome on the terrace.
Burrata, either plain or with prosciutto, is the usual opener. For pasta, try the capellini with crab in lobster bisque or the penne with truffle and porcini; cavatelli with pork ragù is another regular. The Vulcano, a domed pizza, is the showpiece, and the Diavola and lasagna come up often in reviews. Tiramisu and panna cotta round things off, and the wine list is the main draw for many regulars.
It suits a late dinner after drinks along the quay, as the kitchen keeps going until midnight most nights and to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. It opens at 4pm on weekdays and at noon on Sundays for brunch.
