Griglia is the Food Concepts Group's take on the grigliata, the Italian summer barbecue. The menu was devised by executive chef Andrea De Paola. The Craig Road original sits on the ground floor of a conservation shophouse, with brick, timber and metal, green leather banquettes and Sicilian tiles around a custom cast-iron charcoal grill.
Order a few small plates to share, such as baked aubergine with buffalo mozzarella, octopus with almond pesto or Hokkaido scallops, then a pasta like the pappardelle with pork cheek and Chianti or fusilli with crab and 'nduja. After that, move on to the grill. The suckling pig porchetta, 30-day dry-aged porterhouse and whole Mediterranean seabass are made for a table to share.
It suits groups and celebrations, and the weekday set lunch makes it workable for business meals. Closed on Mondays. A second branch, Griglia Katong, is at 139 East Coast Road (+65 8949 1101).
