Da Moreno is one of Phuket's best-known pizza names, with five branches across the island that started from the original in Patong. The Phuket Town branch, Da Moreno @ Town, occupies a restored Sino-Portuguese shophouse on Yaowarat Road, a few steps from Thalang Road and the Sunday Walking Street market. Inside it is bright and cheerful, with red-and-white checked tablecloths and a tiled wood-fired oven.
The menu runs to dozens of pizzas, from a margherita at around 200 baht to the house calzone, plus antipasti such as calamari fritti and pastas including spaghetti alle vongole. The kitchen makes its own cheese and cold cuts, which you can also buy to take away. Ask for the off-menu "zappa", a thin, crisp rectangular pizza baked on cast iron.
Prices are friendly and portions generous, so it works well for a casual dinner with friends or family after a wander round the Old Town. It gets busy on Sundays when the market is on, and parking nearby is difficult.
