Cantina opened on Jalan Raya Semat in 2022 under Milanese owners, and set out to pair home-made Italian food with a sensibly priced wine list. The room is small, with an open kitchen, mineral finishes and a terrace looking towards the rice fields, and it has built up a loyal following among Berawa residents.
Pizzas are Neapolitan in style and come out of a wood-fired oven, from margherita and quattro formaggi to Parma and a spicy diavola. Among the pastas, the braised beef ravioli, pumpkin ravioli and four-cheese gnocchi are the ones regulars recommend. The house meatballs, the sourdough garlic bread and a board of Italian cheese and cold cuts are good for sharing.
It works well for a relaxed dinner for two or a small group who care about wine; the list runs from affordable bottles to premium labels. Tables are limited, so book ahead through the website or WhatsApp. A limoncello on the house usually arrives at the end of the meal.
