Fucina is a pizzeria and Italian kitchen just off Jalan Raya Semat in Berawa, run by an Italian owner who opened his first Bali restaurant more than 20 years ago. The room uses earthy tones, wood furniture and warm lighting around an open kitchen with an imported wood-fired oven, and live jazz plays on Tuesday and Saturday nights.
Pizza is the main reason to go. The dough is fermented for around 48 hours, giving a light, puffed crust with some char. The margherita, quattro formaggi, a truffle-cream and mushroom pizza and the fried panzerotto with spicy salami are good choices. Away from pizza, there is a Roman-style carbonara made with guanciale, mushroom risotto and gnocchi, with tiramisu or panna cotta to finish.
It suits a relaxed pizza-and-wine night, and the kitchen keeps going later than most in the area, up to 1am. Book by phone or WhatsApp on jazz nights.
