Italian Job opened in 2002 as a dinner-only trattoria on Jalan Kayu Aya, back when the street had only a handful of restaurants. It added lunch and a garden pizza oven in 2008, was fully renovated in 2018 with an air-conditioned dining room and outdoor patio, and now opens from breakfast with Italian coffee.
Handmade pasta is the main draw: tagliatelle alla bolognese, pumpkin ravioli with butter and sage, ricotta and spinach tortelli and crespella alla fiorentina. Classics such as spaghetti carbonara with house pancetta, lasagna and Bali lobster linguine also feature. Wood-fired pizzas include one with speck. For mains there is ossobuco alla milanese, pollo alla cacciatora and sesame-crusted tuna, and a small Indonesian section covers nasi goreng and satay.
A good pick for families: a free games room with an arcade machine, PlayStation and art corner keeps children busy, though parents must supervise. It runs from 8.30am to 11.30pm, with breakfast until 11.30am. Book through the website.
