La Lucciola has been a fixture on Petitenget beach for around three decades, a breezy two-level bamboo and alang-alang pavilion right next to the ancient temple. There is no Wi-Fi, which suits the mood: this is a place to watch the surf and linger.
The kitchen sticks to Italian classics done well, with handmade pasta and bread and pastries baked in-house. Come for a slow breakfast, a long lunch or, best of all, sunset drinks followed by seafood pasta. There is also a private dining room, The Firefly, for groups.
Book ahead for a sunset table; it is a perennial favourite for couples and visiting friends who want a classic Bali view with their dinner.
