Sanctuary Umalas

Sanctuary is the Wonderspace group's Italian restaurant, set in the grounds of Monolocale Resort on Jalan Umalas 1. It's a tropical, open-sided space around a pool with sunbeds and long tables. It's a few minutes from Seminyak but much quieter.

The pasta is made by hand. Rigatoni alla vodka with whipped ricotta and prawns is the signature dish, alongside pan-seared gnocchi with salsa verde and a fettuccine truffle carbonara topped with sliced steak. Pizzas include honey four cheese, a grape and prosciutto pizza and carbonara smoked duck. Start with the prosciutto arancini, and if you're hungry, try the baked vodka meatballs with stracciatella or a baked red snapper.

It suits families, groups and anyone who wants a long, slow lunch by the pool. Breakfast, served 7.30-11am, is mostly international brunch dishes, and the Italian menu runs from 11am to 10pm. Book through the resort's online booking page or by WhatsApp.
