Pizzeria Monello

Pizzeria Monello (the name means 'little rascal') is the sister venue of Ciao Nonna, the fresh-pasta kitchen in central Ubud. It sits on Jalan Raya Pengosekan and focuses on pizza tonda romana, the thin, crisp Roman style, made from dough left to rise for up to 72 hours and baked in a brick oven.

Order the Diavola with spicy salame and chilli oil, or the house special: a margherita topped with rocket, cherry tomatoes, parmigiano and prosciutto. The truffle and mushroom pizza is another favourite. Beyond pizza there are gnocchi, aglio olio, a Roman-style meatless lasagna with mozzarella and parmesan, steak, seafood, and torta di ricotta to finish. A separate vegan menu is available.

It works for a casual dinner with friends or family, and the bar mixes cocktails if you want to stay on. Hours run from midday to midnight daily, so it also covers late meals. Book by WhatsApp; Chope does not take reservations for it.
