Ubud is better known for its warungs and plant-based cafés, but it has a small, reliable set of Italian restaurants for a change of pace, from a resort dining room above the jungle to good-value pizzerias in town.
Uma Cucina at COMO Uma Ubud is the most polished, with handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza and family-style sharing menus on leafy terraces. In town, Pizzeria Monello bakes thin, crisp Roman-style pizza from 72-hour dough, Portofino on Jalan Pengosekan pairs handmade pasta with a proper cocktail bar, and GENIO by Twist in Peliatan serves soft Neapolitan-style pizza and pasta at friendly prices. Several Bali Italian groups, including La Baracca, L'Osteria and ARTE, also have branches in central Ubud.
Ubud's centre is congested in the evening and parking is limited, so walk or take a short ride where you can. Most places are open for both lunch and dinner every day.
