Pizzeria Cavalese

Co-founder Dicky Tjhin opened Pizzeria Cavalese in Sunter in 2015 and named it after a ski town in the Dolomites. It has been on the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific list since 2023, reaching No. 34 in 2026 as the guide's top pizzeria in Indonesia. The Mall of Indonesia branch has an open pizza bar, so you can watch the dough being shaped and baked.

The Piedmont Stellata is the pizza to order. Its star-shaped crust has ricotta-filled points around mushrooms, mozzarella, a soft egg and truffle oil. The Seafood Buster, with prawns, calamari and salmon, is another favourite. Away from pizza, try the ravioli di Cavalese with ricotta, spinach and truffle oil, the Calda pasta with tuna and sambal matah, or the risotto di mare.

Prices are modest and the room is casual, so it works for families and shopping breaks. On weekdays until 3pm there is a lunch set of pizza or pasta with tea. The kitchen uses no pork and no lard. The original branch is at Green Lake Sunter, and Pizzeria Cavalese Alta, a more polished offshoot, is at Grand Indonesia.
