Italian Eat Where

North & West Jakarta

North and West Jakarta have their own Italian food scenes, centred on Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), Kelapa Gading and the Greenville area of Kebon Jeruk. They are a long way from the southern business districts, so these are the places locals use rather than make a special trip for, and several of them are among the best pizzerias in the city.

Pizzeria Cavalese at Mall of Indonesia is Indonesia's top-ranked pizzeria on the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific list, with a pork-free kitchen. Napolino at Grand Waterfront bakes large wood-fired pizzas and says its food is halal-certified, while Nuvola in Greenville specialises in airy canotto-style Neapolitan pizza. For a full Italian dinner, Caffè Milano at PIK Avenue finishes pasta in a Parmesan wheel, and Expatriate on Kelapa Gading's Boulevard Raya stays open until 2am at weekends.

Many of these restaurants are pork-free or halal, which makes them easy choices for mixed groups and families. Check each listing for its halal status and opening hours.
