Italian Eat Where

Bali

Bali might be the best place in Asia to eat Italian food with a view. The island's Italian restaurants range from clifftop fine dining in Uluwatu, created with some of Italy's most decorated chefs, to bamboo pavilions on Seminyak's beaches, laid-back pizzerias in Canggu and leafy hotel restaurants in Ubud. A large and long-established Italian community means the cooking is often surprisingly authentic.

Seminyak and Petitenget are the classic choice, with beachfront institutions that have been serving handmade pasta and sunset cocktails for decades, plus some of the island's most refined chef-led dining. Uluwatu and the Bukit peninsula hold the most dramatic settings, perched above the Indian Ocean. Canggu and Pererenan are relaxed and good value, ideal after a surf, while Ubud offers garden terraces and convivial family-style sharing menus.

Prices range from a few dollars for a pizza in Canggu to fine dining that rivals Singapore. Sunset tables on the coast book up quickly, so reserve ahead, and expect most places to take bookings by WhatsApp or an online booking link.
